about

A collection of re-arrangements and stand alone compositions.

1) Die kunst der whisky
Composed for my dear friend Matt Huston, to celebrate our mutual love of whisky. The sound effects were created with an 18-year-old bottle of single malt, my favourite whisky glass and three ice cubes.

2) K Club Jazz at night
I was introduced to jazz by my dad (the legend) Pete Cornish. Growing up, our house was filled with either classical or jazz music. This is my homage to him. Adapted from “Pirouette B” on my album “20 duets for Ballet Class”.

3) Leaving a small hotel
Composed for a Trinity Laban CAT scheme creative project. Original Choreography was by the CAT students. I recorded the sound effects by the level crossing at my local train station.

4) Not slow tendu
This piece started life as “Slow Tendu” on my album “Unsquare Ballet Class”. It became something more akin to the music used for contemporary dance class.

5) Prawn Crackers
Composed for the short dance film “Prawn Crackers” (2001) choreographed by Andrew Coombs and directed by Melanie Stokes. I had the joy of watching it be mixed and mastered at Air Studios, London.

6) Vaslav’s Dream
Composed for a contemporary dance solo, choreographed by my dear friend Angela Askew in 2002.

7) Dr Chrysalis (2024 Version))
Composed for the neo-classical ballet solo I choreographed for dancer/model Christie Parrilla. I recorded the sound effects whilst exploring the rain forests of Northern Australia with my family. The melody also appears as “Adage/Stretch” on my album “Ballet Class 3”.

8) Slap
An arrangement of “Warm-up Jump” from my album “Unsquare Ballet Class”

9) Ploon (2024 Version)
Composed for a contemporary dance solo choreographed by Simon Rice in 2000.

10) Imi and Me (2024 Version)
An adventure through the streets of Paris with my wife. A re-imagining of “Medium Allegro” from my album “Graduation Ballet Class”

11) He can’t remember if she wears a hat (2024 Version)
Composed for an ensemble dance piece which I choreographed in response to the confronting reality of a friend’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

12) Dr Whonish
Some of my ballet students said the original piano version (“Frappe” from “Unsquare Ballet Class”) evoked memories of their favourite British Sci-fi series. In response I did this arrangement and we had huge fun dancing to it in the studio.

13) ADOC 7
Another sci-fi influenced piece adapted from a ballet class composition. However, it is so far removed from the original that it has achieved independence and has earned its individual status.

14) Isolation Waltz (2024 Version)
Composed at the start of the pandemic as an evocation of feeling collectively isolated. This piece became the soundtrack to a lockdown dance film choreographed by myself and Lucy Lawrence-Poole for The Dance Project, Dorking, England. I later adapted it for the “Plié” on my album “Morning Ballet Class”.
